Hello; I think that the first day you can have a circle time sitting crossed legged on the floor with the children ready to learn through either a rhythm band with tambourines, triangle chimes and lumni sticks etc. or just a simple set of wooden spoons. Try fun upbeat music in 4/4 time (4 strong beats, marching) and 3/4 time signatures (3 Strong -weak -weak beats, waltz) . Your preschoolers can beat the rythm sounds on the floor. After they can stand and march with a leader for 4/4time and then change music to 3/4time to stand and clap out the strong weak weak waltz rythm . Gallops, prince or princess walks, skipping and ballet runs one at a time and then end with a calm mirror image partner game. I hope I was of some help....Frances.
